Re: Flight tonight

As I noted last night, we tend to have more participation when we have formal packages pre-arranged like the ones we did over the last few months. I'd like to get back to doing those now that we've dipped our toes in Clearfield. I think we already have some packages set up for clearfield? Can we set...

Re: New hobby?

I keep forgetting to go outside. Doing a day hike tomorrow morning, but perhaps tomorrow night if it's clear.

Re: Through the Inferno, Caucasus

Carrier deck looked fine. No worries there. As for tanker speed, I'd say anything between 230 to 250 kts is fine. Thanks man.

Cool. I live in a reasonably low light polluted area, I think. I'll have to step outside and have a look.

Re: Through the Inferno, Caucasus

Thanks Hammer. Usually if the tankers are flying anywhere around 230 kts, that's fine. Sped up to 300 kts should be fine too.

Re: New hobby?

Very cool. I think I would want to do EAA as well. I would also probably go for a telescope that guides itself to the celestial body because I've had experience with a cheap Mead telescope when I was a kid. Wasn't very good at finding stuff on my own.

Re: Training 072720

Hopefully, we get another chance to try buddy lasing. On your first drop, I did end up with pod being masked. Not sure if that's why we missed but most likely. I had a clear view throughout the second drop but no boom. So, we should be able to troubleshoot it next time. :-) I also want to practice d...

Re: Any Asimov fans here?

I could care less about Paramount's profit margin, although I don't think this decision is going to help. They will have to reboot the ad campaign and even then my prediction is that the reviews will be less than strong because of the long delay and disappointment. People will go see it. They will m...

Re: Any Asimov fans here?

Seriously? Well now it's going to be overblown. People's expectations are going to be too high and they are going to be sorely disappointed. Dumb decision. Let's face it, it was never going to be as great as everyone wants it to be anyway.

Re: Training requests

Hey all, Smada mentioned he wants to train Flight Coordination on Monday night. To be honest, I'm not entirely certain what he means by Flight Coordination, but I'm sure he'll clarify. I'm not back from camping and hiking until Sunday evening, and so it's a bit tough for me to put together a formal ...

Excellent video recap, Hammer. Sums up the night really well and would make a great recruiting advertisement piece. Looking forward to next Monday night!

Re: Monday Night Training 7/20/20

Hey Smada,

That's great news! Very exciting and I wish you luck getting your night qual. Yeah, we can definitely do some coordination training Monday night. Just to clarify, do you mean formation flying or coordinating tactics in a flight, AWI with your wingman? Thanks.

That's really cool. So you can do this on the fly during mission? Just like a controller throwing problems at student pilots in the simulator.

Re: DCS Update 7/22

downloading now. I don't like the new downloading system. It's asking me if I want to keep maps that I have in my install as they are "not required for this update." Ridiculous. No, of course I don't want to delete terrain just because you're fixing something completely unrelated!

Yeah, I'm playing the F-18 campaign Exigent Riviera when I have time. I constantly have to tell them to go home and have no pity when they eject because they don't follow orders.

Well, for the Red Flag stuff, we would probably want the auto spawn on to present us with the unexpected. What is Zeus?
