Great news. There's no need to hurry since we wont be playing IL-2 46 until next week sometime. I figure we'll end up doing GRAW or ArmA tonight.

I was under the impression that more people had IL-2 1946 already but that is not the case.

No more flight simms for me until Fighter Ops comes out. I am just to pissed that FLIGHT SIMMS are all but going the way of the dinosaur. Also I really think that there is more money in research (like cancer research) than a cure, referring to Fighter Ops.

How is that the case? Since 2001 I have bought the following flight sims:

Falcon 4 AF
IL-2 Series (IL-2, Pacific Fighters, 1946)
Lock On + Flaming Cliffs
Wings Over Europe
Wings Over Vietnam
First Eagles
Combat Flight Simulator 3
Enemy Engaged Comanche Hokum

and there have been several other flight sims released which I have not bought like Strike Fighters.

and in the development pipe we have:

Fighter Ops
Lock On: Black Shark
Oleg's Battle of Britain

I really hate prop engine aircraft and Falcon 4 series really really really sucks to me. First eagles I never heard of and EECH2 hasn't come out yet, I am reserving my opinion because I've never played a Helicopter simm before. Besides I am talking about now.

Falcon 4 sucks? Nah. Pilot error, you just need more training. :P

Falcon 4 AF is as real as it gets man, hands down one of the more realistic F-16 simulators for PC out there.

Got my copy of IL2 1946 today.

A quick question though, is it supposed to come with a manual and a CD key? My copy had no manual, and no CD key inside, just 2 or 3 DVDs. I am assuming there is a digital PDF type of manual on one of the DVDs? I am also assuming there is no CD key required?

Well sh*t!! My DVD drive (Plextor 760A DVDRW, latest firmware version 1.06) does not recognize the IL2 1946 DVD. However, it does work with the DVD drive that is in my wifes computer (Also a Plextor DVDRW, but an older model), so I will have to get her a new DVD drive, and then take the one in her computer and put it in my computer. Suck!

I'm sorry to hear that Softball. IL-2 46 comes with Securerom and we all know that Securerom can be just as bad as Starforce.

I have a couple other games that did the same thing (SBPPE is one), but I was able to install it over the network. Unfortunately, I was not able to install IL2 1946 over the network (wife's computer is not in the same network). I am going to try and find a cheapo DVD Burner and swap hers out.

I just went ahead and picked up a Sony DVD drive for $20. *shrug* Hope it works.

UPDATE: The $20 DVD ROM drive did the trick, installing as I type this. :D
