Pacific Fighters

Post by Gator »

Well, I've been practicing my ship landings in this sim. Tough. For those of you who have flown IL2 with me, you'll be glad to know that I don't really have any trouble taking off from a carrier so far. On the other hand, landing is a pain. Twice now I've rolled right off the front of the ship only to get run-over by a speeding carrier - now I understand why we went to angled-decks: it's much safer.

I really like this much much better than IL2:FB. I've always had a sweet spot for the Corsair.

Gator,
same - i love the Corsair - probably Baa Baa Black Sheep that truned me on to it...

but I gotta say, since my WW2 flight combat board game days, the George is one heck of a fighter too... don't know if it is in PF or not though.

Same here. Something about that group. I've read several books about them. They're pretty cool even after you cut through the mythology.

What's the specific designation for the George?

The George/Shiden is in Pacific Fighters, but does not appear to be flyable. I created a quick mission with them, but they were not available for player aircraft.

Having the plane in as AI is the first step to making it flyable. They really just need a cockpit for it. Now this isn't a trivial step, but it's a lot closer than a plane that's not in the game at all.
