Why on earth do they have such old rifles in the armory? No other way to dispose of them? I have an idea - sell them to an avid American collector!!!

Airsoft guns out of the box are for the most part barely passable for skirmishing. As Oblivion said, they are sub 300, most sub 250fps. I have an SG1 and an MP5A5 that shoot 350fps and 300fps repsectively. All I have done is put in a heavier spring and low tolerance accuracy barrel. After next week or so things should pick up a bit! I have an all metal upgrade coming for my SG1. Since it is such a large rifle it tend to flex a bit and has some other design flaws that the metal body and some other TLC will fix. It will also be getting an even stronger spring for more fps - around 400. I will aslo need to upgrade my gears and gear bushings in the gearbox, gears to save the motor from burning out against the greater torque of the stronger spring and metal gear bushings to keep the gears in line with the greater torque. Makes for a longer lasting setup - a new gearbox costs a bit 'o cash. The MP5 will get the old spring from the SG1 as well... Kinda like gunsmithing!
The SG1 will be used similarly to the Dragunov concept in the Soviet Army - a specially selected marksman per platoon was/is issued a Dragunov. They are not really snipers per se, Dragunov's are not capable of that kind of accuracy (actually they do meet NATO sniper weapon accuracy specs - 15in groups at 600 yards) but are more accurate than their predesecessor the Moisin-Nagant 91/30.
Can you tell I am a Dragunov fan?

Operation: Inclement Weather.
I was part fo the Alpha Spec Ops team - we did deep penetration ops, and harrased the enemy where appropriate. Too bad I had a Hephalump and a Snuffleufagus as part of my team. They are great guys, but can not move in the woods...! Yes, they know their respective nicks...I reminded them constantly...
So the MP5 will be my secondary for close engagements, especially as I may eventually take the SG1 to 450 or 500 fps. That will depend upon the games I play in - some have a 400 fps limit - period, and others allow 500 fps for sniper weapons. I CAN do both, swapping the prings before the game...which is what I will likely do.
The test will be at:
Operation: Lion Claws
where I am second in command (along with another bloke) under Col. McNight (yes, THE Col. McNight of Mogadishu fame).
