Hey Falk,

Yeah, I'm here. It has been quiet but I am as guilty as anyone else. I have been a bit busy lately, so I haven't been around. My Mechy install has become a bit unstable so I haven't been playing that much, either. I am going to reinstall sometime but I just haven't gotten to it. I did download the UT2004 demo tonight. It was a big download but it runs pretty well. I'm not sure I will like it as much as original UT but the graphics are pretty impressive, esp. considering that my 'old' system didn't have the higher settings turned on for the game. It's too bad that finding & connecting to a game in Mechy isn't as easy as it is in the UT series. Plus, UT doesn't choke when it tries to play through my wireless router. Oh well. But when you love your mechs, you just can't give it up

I've been playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, staying up til 3 Am. It's a single player game, dang it, but more fun than a barrel of rancors, and you know how much fun that is. Very much in the spirit of the first two SW movies with a heckuva lot better plot/story than the bantha poo doo Lucas has been serving up since The Planet of the Awfully Cute Teddy Bears in 1983.

Way cool that you can customize some of your weapons and armor - even your lightsaber, if yer a Jedi Knight. Cool NPCs, too. I especially like the war droid, HK47 (or something like that) - he's always ready to fight, and calls organic lifeforms 'meatbags'. "I hate all meatbags. Uh, except for you, Master. Heh."

Try it, you'll like it.

Still working on new rig here. We thought I had a bad MoBo, but replacement don't work either.
Anybody have any experience with 3com Gigabyte LAN cards? We can't seem to get my onboard NIC to work. It just keeps sending trillions of billions of packets to nowhere, and not getting anything back.
I think I'm at the point of just putting in a 10/100 card to play and call it finished. I have no real plans to upgrade home network to tremendously outrageous speeds anytime foreseeable.

Not alot of new stuff going on here either. after all the upgrading i did i am realy disapointed that the mektek pack messes up my graphics. it dosnt seem to matter what driver i use or anything.. ive un-installed and re-installed mechwarrior mercs twice now. it works fine till i install the mektek patch. then when i open the game the graphics flicker realy bad. the pisser is that all other games i got run great. in fact better then great. except when i use shadows on ghost recon in a city environment then it starts to lag a little. Ive been playing mechwarrior games around 6 years now. and it disapoints me that mechwarrior seems to be the ONLY game i have problems with like i do. to start is it seems to hate wireless routers, so i had to by pass mine completly to play online and keep my computer close to where the cable outlet is. secondly is the 3rd party upgrades dont seem compatable with something on my system and i cant even figure out what it is. and being 3rd party it was so great that someone did that sort of work to keep the game interesting i find it hard to bitch about the quality of the patch.

i miss being all lined up with you all in our metal hulks of walking ordance and blasting the shit out of ppl. im just not sure what to do about it anymore. im just very unsure of the future of mechwarrior at this point. i wish that something would come along, this is the first time in years that i can remember that nothing seems to be in the works regarding battle tech and PC Gameing.

im woundering if maybe we shouldnt open the doors up to this unit and make it more of a gameing group rather then just ELH. at least that way we can keep in contact and do different things. perhaps keep the fellowship we have had for so long. i still see it as a sad thing to see this group fade away like everything else. i know it will eventualy happen, but still think it would be sad hehe. i mean realy thing about it.. this group been around in the days where our computers ran less memory then most our video cards do now days! probably some of us have watches that have more computing power then our puters did back then ;)

i know ive harped about pay to play games forever, but i still encourage anyone interested to try the day trial of planetside if possible. i know its a big DL. but man, the team work was like when some of us were in tribes in Vengfull spirits. but with alot more roles. you need everyone in your squad to pull the job off. its defently a team work game. and i just think it would be great if our ELH could get a group going there.

for a cheap a$$ where gameing is concerned i think ive been converted.

so far as i know, me and bron and malin are the only ones playing it. if anyone else installs it let me know what you think. i mean we may not be able to recapture the feeling of piloting big mechs as a team like we once did. but i think we can at least recapture the teamwork and fun we all had.

Okay , It’s nice to know ya know. I’d hate to think I was in here talking to myself. Yeah , It’s been kind of quiet here but it will pass. Remember a few years ago It was this way before. We were waiting on another Mech Warrior game to come out. None of us had anything much to say at that time really , but a few of us were still posting to try and keep this forum alive.

I’d drop by every now and then and say something stupid just to let the group know I was still around . I’m sure something will turn up sooner or later. Maybe in June perhaps. I have a feeling about June. That’s when something will reunite us like before.

I played Star Wars Jedi Knights. It was a hard one to play in the beginning , but I stayed with it all the way. During the middle and towards the end it got tuff. I had allot of fun slaying them bad guys with my light saber. My brother( Strikr) called me up a few times on the phone to asked me what level I was on and how the hell I’d gotten so far in the game. I was happy to oblige him. Frankly, I had to search through a few forums on the net for some answers on some occasions in order to get past a few of the hard levels. All in All , that was a genuine good game , and still is if I ever want to try my luck with it again. I’ve been looking forward to playing more of the latest Star Wars games. I watch X-Play on the Tech Channel from time to time and pick up on what they have to say about the latest games on the market. They said Knights of the Old Republic is too slow and easy for them. But I’ll still check it out to see what all the hubbub is about.

As far as life and general, My life has slowed down to a crawl here. I got backed up on this car I’m working on and have been in a bitter mood lately. Sorry for that. I think the world does evolve around me sometimes the way things go , but I devised a new plan to keep me happy and get the ball rolling once again. Things will be looking up soon. You’ll see.

I miss playing MW like heck . I had a few cool times winging you guys. Me and Fether tore up some Mechs against Malin and a few others one time heh. That was some fun. But with all the trouble to reinstall it , …. Will it be worth it to me . That’s a question only I could answer. For now,.. I’m going to hang tight and see what the future holds.

BH, there’s always the alternate 3D reality games. They have them at the mall now. Maybe in few short years we’ll be able to throw on a pare of computer 3D shades and play a game in a whole new universe with lots of other members to join forces with. Ever seen the Matrix or the Lawnmower Man ( by Steven King ) It will be something like that. Planet Side sounded like a fun game ever since Mal brought it up a few months ago. I’ll bet you guys are having some fun with it . I’ll be there for some action asapp.
