Looks like there’s a new game in town called Far Cry. It takes a DVD drive to install it cuz it soo Big ! .... .... I really don’t have allot of information about it at this time but from what I hear , You’ll need to get yourself a Black Hawk computer to run it. ....

X-Box doesn’t offer this game either. A friend of mine told me that they run a DVD movie In the back ground and it takes up allot of Ram. i DLed the demo and wasnt realy impressed to much. that was some time ago though.

the boys over at the 151 forums have, ahum, reviewed this game ;) so when they pop in here i they got some info and opinions on it.


Falker get a Planetside game card and we will hook you up

we are a hair away from foruming the 151 outfit on the European server. We got slammy over there off and on. now if i can just get hooked up with him to get him to get rid of some of his noobness

the 151 unit is now created (after much effort!!), and yes, mechs are coming to PS. There will be two versions, one will have 2 crew (pilot and gunner), and one will be a solo vehicle but will b able to fly. Each empire will have its own version, the VS Aphelion, the NC Peregrine, and the TR Colossus. There will be an element of customisation, as u can install upgrade modules with things like JJ's etc. THey will require 3 cert points (they take the role of hvy tanks in the game) and u will have to go thru a 1 off attuning process in the caverns if u want to pilot one....it's 50% done, should be interesting to see.

Did you know that my very old Turtle Beach sound card works allot better since I installed My G-Force 128 MB Graphics card. Not what I expected , but Nice. I played Halo demo again today and I can here them aliens whimpering as they run away heh.


You inspire me sometimes BH I’ve been thinking about Planet Side a little more often then usual tonight. Thinking that you would prefer your old team mates there to back you up and help dish it out on the Battle Field. I’ve also started thinking about how I would inspire the rest of the 19th Cavalry and other members of this group to make a go of it when I get back in uniform . Having a good wing man on a special forces team is the most important thing that comes to mind at this time. First off , I’d need Fethr and Mince there for wing support. BH and Falker hang back till the right moment , and then pounce on the front line when the going gets hot. We made a good team : ) What makes the 19th Calvary special is that we’ve battled with each other for several years and can anticipate what each member in our lance will do. And That’s something.

As you stated before we’ll need some familiar teammates to enjoy the battle experience . It’s good to know the 151st and others are there playing it these days. ( thanks for the update Moose ) Whenever I get P.S. and get comfortable with it , I’m sure I’ll try to hound the rest of our team mates to join in as well. The fun just wouldn’t be as entertaining with out them.


There’s so much more I wanted to say about how well it would be to put on a uniform again and see all you guys in action , but I’m trying to keep it short. I’ll get the PS demo and see what’s up.

Yea i realy miss those old mech days like that too. in fact i tried playing mech again recently thinking to get back into the game, however it seems when ever i dont play it for any extended time at all, it refuses to run. Like something is gets corupted or something. it realy pisses me off. i dont enjoy the hours of re-installing and re-setting stuff up again. in fact, its why i kinda quite playing it in the first place.

i know that the play to pay aspect goes against the grain of alot of us. i had a hard time with it myself, but then i sat down and thought about it for awhile. Its interested to note that due to boredom i would buy a game every other month. puzzle games like myste series and stuff like that. first person shooters like pain killer, etc. after adding up the cost, its actualy cheaper for me to play planetside LOL.

i will be honest though, the game is realy rough on people starting out with it. you dont have hardly any abilities. you have basic armor and basic weapons. alot of younger ppl play it, not so much in the teens unless their parents play too. but highschooler age on up. the good thing is, ive also found alot of old farts like me playing the game as well. i Got lucky when i started on the west coast server and found a outfit to take me in and help smooth out the rough road till i was able to get better with skill and equipment. and then i got the 151 guys going at it on the european server and after helping them as best i could. we now have some good ol fun when i can hook up with them. this game is alot more fun with a team of friends. its not recomended to be a loner game realy.

The realy intersting this is that even though the developers are not perfect. the are adjusting, adding and changing things all the time. for example we got new varients of vehicles that were just recently released. it looks like the possibility of new battle frames being introduced soon ( mechs?) plus just last night, while playing, the devs introduced a three day process of earth quakes and fire balls falling out of the sky, in prelude to the break up of one of the contenents to become the new battle islands. suposedly its supposed to get worse. then BAM. stuff like that adds to the excitment of the game IMO.

"Far Cry" - We tried it but the total lack of any real co-op killed it off for the 151 quite quickly. The game itself is graphically superb but like so many new games it is "style over substance".

Another one to look at is "Joint Ops - Typhoon Rising". This is a modern FPS soldier sim and it has driveable/flyable vehicles and helis. This game also looks superb. Suffers from no real co-op play and bizarre AI. Also, JOTR was hacked before its release by the beta testers so most servers have more cheats playing than the Olympic Games!

Both Far Cry and JOTR also suffer from the current state of public server sadness. Servers full of retards constantly camping, TK'ing and calling everyone a "noob"! I first saw this malaise in "Ravenshield" but it has now taken on plague proportions.

A word you might see now and again is "wombat". This stands for "Waste Of Money, Breath And Time". Usually applied to young men who believe their online ability equates to their RL social standing! See Buff's sig for a further explaination

yea it has something to do with the 151 color scheme and the lack of decorators in PS ;)

its actualy been fun playing TR. not so much the Mini Chain Gun but i like the striker anti vehicle weapon and thier AA max is fun too. although gliding around in a magrider was a hoot too. unfortunatly the Vanu dont seem inclined to leave those around often to let Advanced hackers jack em
